Shirley
Kanode, M.A.O.M Shirley Kanode has been a speaker and trainer for 25 years helping employees to grow and explore their talents in a safe, fun environment. Her emphasis is on practical application of what is discussed in the classroom. Shirley has worked in management, as well as line positions, and understands the difficulties of trying to accomplish goals in an imperfect world. Shirley enjoys working with people of all educational and organizational levels drawing from her experiences as a high-level manager, truck stop waitress, and facilitator. She can help employees use their abilities to succeed in their organizations and gain the confidence to unleash their talent. Shirley’s understanding of people and organizations helps her transform theories into solutions to real problems. In addition to facilitating training classes for thousands of individuals, Shirley has been a speaker at several national and regional meetings resulting from her creation and implementation of several innovative programs. These include a web-based salary survey, self-directed work teams, performance management, and a cross-training program. Shirley has also coached many supervisors and managers through crises and improvement of their management skills. Shirley is a graduate of Purdue University and is a proud Boilermaker. She believes in lifelong learning and has continued her own education and training throughout her career recently obtaining a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Shirley attributes much of what she knows to her mentors and friends who have graciously, and sometimes forcefully, helped her to grow professionally and personally.
